Get ready to run along the Costa del Sol as Estepona welcomes the inaugural Maratón Costa del Sol Estepona on Sunday 11 October 2026.

With both a full 42K marathon and a 21K half marathon, the event offers a challenge for experienced distance runners as well as those looking to take on their next big running goal. Starting and finishing at the Municipal Athletics Stadium, the routes take runners through Estepona and along sections of its beautiful Mediterranean coastline, bringing together sport, sea views and the distinctive atmosphere of the Costa del Sol.

The marathon has been designed as a more personal, boutique-style running event, with participation deliberately limited for its first edition. The organisers aim to put the runner experience at the centre of the day, from the course and race organisation to the supporting services around the event.

The 21K route includes sections of Estepona’s seafront, passing areas including Playa de la Rada, the marina and Playa del Cristo before returning towards the finish. The full marathon follows a longer course through the area, with the official route currently subject to final validation.

For visitors, it is also a good excuse to make a weekend of it. With Estepona’s beaches, old town, restaurants and waterfront all close at hand, runners and supporters can combine race day with a few days enjoying one of the Costa del Sol’s most attractive coastal towns.
