The Archaeological Museum of Estepona is located in the “Casa del Aljibe”, named after the water tank located in the basement of the courtyard.
The archaeological pieces that make up the collection of the Archaeological Museum of Estepona come, on the one hand, from private collections deposited in the Town Hall, and on the other, from the archaeological interventions carried out in the Municipality of Estepona and which belong to the collection of the Junta of Andalusia, remaining in the Museum of Estepona as a deposit of the Museum of Malaga.
This museum is made up of 4 rooms each with a different historical theme:
- Room 1: First settlers of the Phoenician navigators and the Roman conquest.
- Room 2: The splendor of the Roman Empire
- Room 3: Byzantine Empire to the Caliphate.
- Room 4: An Islamic medina.
- Central patio: temporary exhibitions.
