Have you noticed the ceramic tiled street names whilst walking along the Paseo in Sabinillas or the road behind that runs parallel to the paseo, Calle Duquesa de Arcos?
Most of these small streets more like alleyways that connect Calle Duquesa de Arcos to the Paseo Maritimo are named after some of Spain’s great Artists such as Piccasso, Miro, Goya and Dali to mention a few.
Some are not that obvious due to them being above the eye line but next time you´re walking along check them out.
They are a homage made in ceramic tiles with bright colours and styled in the artist’s genre. Most of them are created by local artist Conchi Pili, she is a local artist working in paint and ceramics.
There must be hundreds of streets and avenues across Spain named after these world renowned artist.
If we take Picasso as an example, one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century, was a local artist born in Malaga 1881, his full name was: Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso.
