Welcome to 2023 and to all the new residents and visitors to Manilva, Sabinillas, Duquesa and Casares Costa. We had a very welcome warm start to the new year which attracted more than the usual amount of visitors to our part of the Costa Del Sol.
We would like to thank the team at The Saint George Charity for organising the installation of seven new defibrillators in Sabinillas and Duquesa bringing the total to nine scattered around the community in strategic locations.
The new units are located at:
Chiringuito El Paseo on the promenade near La Noria.
Hotel Doña Luisa, next door to Suzi’s.
Restaurante Varadero on the La Colonia paseo.
Bernie’s Bar in Sabinillas.
Kelly’s in Monte Duquesa.
Rose & Thistle in Duquesa Port.
Arch by the taxi rank at the entrance to the Port.
This was achieved thanks to funding by the customers of Bernie’s Bar, The Rose & Thistle, and donations from Restaurante Varadero, and the Gibraltar Robus Group and Ardonagh Community Trust.
These bring the total of installed defibrillators to nine, with units previously installed at the Saint George Charity Shop and Beccy’s in Sabinillas.
The Charity will also be organising courses on how to use them in the New Year for those interested.
For more information on this project see: https://saintgeorgecharity.com/manilva-defibrillator-network/ The charity continues to do great work in our community and donations are always welcome.
Manilva
A large Investment in the region is coming to Manilva, the real estate company DarGlobal has purchased 400 hectares with intended development in creating two exclusive equestrian and golf estates including luxury properties.

To mark the beginning of the activities in Spain, DarGlobal, presented their project at FITUR on Friday January 20th, at the stand of the Costa del Sol Tourist Board. The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, stated that “Manilva is in the spotlight for quality investments that will mean an economic boost for the municipality, generating employment and wealth throughout the region.”
Sunday Market
It´s back, yes, the Sunday Market started 15th Jan, you can enjoy Sunday mornings again looking at other peoples cast offs, however the market has been scaled down due to plans for a sports arena, in its heyday there was some 300 stalls selling clothes, bric- a-brac and second hand goods, recycling at its best some would say, now 128 stalls are available.
Those interested in a permanent or temporary pitch should contact Antonio on 629 478 739 or email mercadodeepoca10@hotmail.es. You will need to have in place Public Liability Insurance of at least 90,000 euros.
Pedestrian Path Planned
Manilva council is continuing it plans to build a pedestrian footpath from Manilva Town to Sabinillas, this will be a very welcome project for tourists and residents who travel along that section of road. We´ll keep you updated as plans progress.
Paseo Sabinillas

The first half has been completed and work has now stopped, we do not know when they intend to continue work finishing the other section, I hope it´s not going to be the same company, the work already completed is not of good order, the original plans must have looked very pleasing but execution of the work has been poor. Lets hope it will look better after some wear.
Casares Costa

Residents and visitors will get to enjoy the new footbridge linking Playa Ancha and Playa La Sal completing Casares section of the Senda Litoral, this is the coastal path that will eventually connect Manilva to Nerja connecting 14 towns and some 184 kms.
Casares Costa Water Park

Located adjacent to the A7 and links Marina Casares to Dona Julia will be open for this Spring…
The project has a budget of €230,000 and a surface area of approximately 400 square metres, with games and aquatic appliances occupying about 200 square metres.
This also expands the recreational area for the Casares Costa residents and visitors, in addition the new playground of Hacienda de Casares, Doña Julia has now been completed along with the novel Pump Track or boost track for wheeled sports, whose construction was completed rapidly within the Los Alegres regeneration project, the Town Hall of Casares continues with the improvement and creation of new leisure spaces.

New Footpath for Casares Costa
In addition to the new footpath and new recreational spaces being developed like the pump track and a landscaping project consisting of some seven thousand square meters along the MA-8300 road taking you towards Finca Cortisen and Casares from the A-7, a road that also serves as access to various urbanizations and golf courses from the coast.
The region continues to develop with more recreational areas planned, anyone would think it´s election time!
