Watch our video of Puerto de la Duquesa (Including Castillo) to get a feel for the local area:

Puerto de la Duquesa or the “Port” as it is known locally is still a working marina for local fishermen who land their catch here daily before going to market and local shops. The fishing boats are small compared to vessels that enter Estepona just further along the coast. The marina built in the 1980’s is also home to pleasure craft offering moorings with electricity, fresh water and a safe haven year round.

Puerto Duquesa port and marina

Duquesa (also another abbreviated name) is stepped over three levels from the marina ground level where you will find the chandlers and boat moorings up to the second level where there are many more bars and restaurants, and during the warm evenings in the summer months you will find an array of market stalls offering clothes, arts and crafts and jewellery, then up to the third level again with more bars and restaurants.

The port is located between Sabinillas and Castillo and walking from either town is very pleasant along the paved paseo which offers chiringuitos (beach restaurants) along the way, there is a vast selection of bars, restaurants and other amenities such as a bank, pharmacy, newsagents, property rentals etc. you could say it's a small village.

The restaurants which line the marina offer a wide variety of cuisine from traditional Spanish to Chinese, Indian and Italian as well as mix of fusion and British food. With a variety of bars offering live sports, entertainment and karaoke the port becomes a great location for a great night out for all the family.

For those of you who want to take to the water there are a number of options available in the way of boat rides, dolphin spotting, fishing trips, and facilities for boat repairs and maintenance.

Behind the port on the other side of the A7 coastal road there are more properties within walking distance and a small square called Montes Duquesa which has a selection of good restaurants and a few shops.

The port is surrounded by apartments that offer holiday rentals as well as long term rentals for people who would like to live in an area with all local amenities and beautiful beaches either side that never get overcrowded even at the height of summer it offers a great location for holidaying on the Costa del Sol.

Whether a quiet cafe where you can sit and watch the world go by, or a lively sports bar showing the latest match or golf tournament, there is something for everyone in Puerto de la Duquesa.
