The word pilgrimage comes from “rosemary”, as it was designated to the people who went on pilgrimage to Rome. Later, the meaning spread and today a pilgrimage is the visit to a sanctuary of the Virgin Mary.

The May pilgrimage has a marked apostolic spirit. Saint Josemaría encouraged them to do it in the company of friends or relatives and take the opportunity to suggest a step forward in their Christian life. “Many conversions, many decisions of dedication to the service of God have been preceded by an encounter with Mary. Our Lady has fostered the desire to seek, has maternally activated the concerns of the soul, has made us aspire to a change, to a new life.
